 NEWPORT CROSSING NEWSLETTER

Here are some topics of interest for Newport Crossing homeowners.

The HOA Board discussed that the Gazebos need some shingles either replaced or repaired. The Management Company was asked to find a business that would come and give the Board an appraisal on the conditions of the shingles. There was a discussion about the drainage outlet on Watauga Court.  A homeowner, who lives near the drainage outlet, stated that the City Storm Water Department was working on the issue. Alderman Rick Graham is helping the homeowner with these storm water issues. The fences that are on the common area, which are owned by the Association, were being looked after by our lawn company, for any trees or plants, that were putting pressure on the integrity of these fences. The lawn company is planting new plants, in the front entrance, and staging the new plants to give a more attractive look.

Homeowners are reminded to remove any stains from their vinyl siding which accumulated during the winter. Please, take notice of your mail box and remove all bird droppings, and then repainting them for a better look for our Community.

The Amenities Board noted that the security cameras, that were just installed, are working. The Board discussed the need for a new tennis court net and it was just installed this week. A sign will be up asking tennis players to lower the nets after play, to take the strain off of the supporting posts. The Association contracted with a construction business to check the children’s play apparatus for any defects. The apparatus was inspected and repaired, as some screws and bolts had rusted. The pool company is working to get our pool ready for the season. A bigger “salt” generator will be installed to help keep the water more clear in the future. As a reminder, anyone using the pool should shower before entering the pool, as this helps to wash off any “tanning” lotions. The tanning lotions and sun screens tend to cause the water to retain the substances, which causes the filtering system to not function properly, thus, causing the water to look “cloudy”. Our pool company discovered that our heater was not working and this will be repaired as soon as possible. The Association is considering painting the inside of the clubhouse due to wear and tear from use.

If you receive the Advertiser Newspaper dated April 17, you probably noticed an article about the traffic congestion on Highway 31, and that the State is not planning on widening it, in the near future. If you did not see the article, you should try and get a copy to see what is not happening to our congested roads. If the heavy traffic congestion concerns you, you may want to contact our Ward 3 Alderman Rick Graham. Rick’s email address is aldermangraham@gmail.com.
